Stronger Together
“APWA is proud to announce "Stronger Together" as the theme for the 2021 National Public Works Week poster. This year's exciting poster challenges our members and their citizens to think about the role public works plays in creating a great place to live. By working together, the impact citizens and public works professionals can have on their communities is magnified and results in the ability to accomplish goals once thought unattainable.”

2020 Daly City Public Works Achievements
Despite the huge obstacle of the pandemic, our Public Works staff continued to persevere to ensure that our City remains a great place to live and work. Examples of projects that exemplify this are:
Gellert Park Renovations: Addition of a new American Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant prefabricated restroom building; replacement of the existing playground equipment with new playground equipment (expected completion, November 2020); renovation of the existing barbeque area; and replacement of existing tennis/basketball court light fixtures with energy efficient LED fixtures.
Various slurry and resurfacing projects to help maintain the longevity of our streets.
Buildings updates such as repair of Westlake Library’s HVAC and Roof Replacement.
Public Works Director, Richard Chiu, Jr., said it best - “If you drive on the streets, walk down the sidewalks, or relax in city parks, libraries, or other public buildings you've already encountered Public Works and might not even have known it. We pave the streets, maintain public parks and buildings, and manage construction projects to rehabilitate these major public assets. Above all, we're dedicated to keeping your community safe, clean, and functioning.”
Public Works looks forward to serving our community in the upcoming year!
