Maintenance
The Building Maintenance Section of the Maintenance Division functions as a full-service building maintenance organization for the City government. It serves the community through the repair, installation, maintenance, and cleaning of all City buildings, playground equipment, and fencing.
Preventative Maintenance
This service is accomplished through a comprehensive preventive maintenance program and includes:
- Buildings and building systems (such as heating and air conditioning systems)
- Elevators
- Emergency generators
- Fencing
- Retaining walls
- Signs
The division maintains 46 facilities and structures, 23 Parks, 5 open spaces, and 36 playgrounds.
The Fleet Maintenance Section of the Maintenance Division is responsible for maintenance, repair, and replacement of all City vehicles and equipment. Fleet Maintenance staff provides annual inspections and scheduled preventive maintenance to ensure vehicles meet the Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) Standards. The City's fleet inventory is approximately 275 vehicles and equipment. Fleet Maintenance furnishes technical information and prepares specifications for the purchase of new vehicles and equipment for the City as well.
The Parks Maintenance Section of the Maintenance Division is a full-service park maintenance organization responsible for the care and maintenance of City parks, open spaces, street medians, and all City-owned buildings' landscaping. This includes weekly mowing, litter and debris removal, shrub and tree pruning, and other miscellaneous landscape maintenance. The Parks Maintenance team also cares for the City's urban forest which includes trees within the public right-of-way, within the parks, and around City facilities.
The Street Maintenance Section of the Maintenance Division provides maintenance of all public:
- Rights-of-Way
- Stormwater Conveyance Systems
- Streetlights
- Traffic Signals
- Traffic Signs
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
- Maintenance of all street signs, parking meters, and guardrails
- Manual cleaning and mechanical sweeping of streets occur on a weekly basis
- Painting of street legends, lane lines, and curbs
- Roadway and sidewalk repairs
- Traffic signal and street light repairs
The Street Maintenance Section also coordinates the removal of illegally dumped materials out of the right-of-way.
