Electric Vehicle Charging Station Review Process

Daly City has passed and adopted Ordinance Number 1455 to provide an expedited and streamlined permitting process for electric vehicle charging stations (EVCS). In conjunction with this the city has developed a checklist intended to help expedite the review and approval process for the charging stations. This is in an effort to to further the availability of charging infrastructure and help drive the deployment of electric vehicles.

Please note: EVCS are not subject to association approval as defined in Section 4080 of the Civil Code, with association defined to be the following: A non-profit organization or unincorporated association created for the purpose of managing a common interest development.

Review Timelines

  • Projects with 1-25 Stations: 5 business days for first cycle of comments or approval if submitted with an ECVS checklist deemed complete by the Building Official 
  • Projects with 26 or more stations: 10 business days for first cycle of comments or approval if submitted with an ECVS checklist deemed complete by the Building Official  

Applying 

Submit the completed documents through email to the Building Division:

  1. Completed permit application (Building Permit Application (PDF) 
  2. EVCS checklist
  3. Credit Card Authorization Form (PDF) (Visa or MasterCard)
