San Mateo, Redwood City, and South San Francisco also launched this two-year program. The program added a critical and new element to emergency response. 9-1-1 dispatchers, are also trained to support individuals in crisis, will dispatch the mental health clinician along with Daly City Police Department officers to calls for service with the individual(s) suspected of experiencing mental or behavioral health crises. After the police officers determine the scene to be safe, the clinician will assess the individual(s) and identify opportunities for immediate care and intervention.
