Community Division

The Daly City Police Department’s Community Division provides many valuable services and resources to the community and schools. The Community Division is currently staffed by two Daly City Police Officers, Renaldo Rodriguez and Matthew Lajoie.

Officer Renaldo Rodriguez brings 8 years of law enforcement experience to the Daly City Police Department. Born and raised in San Francisco, he proudly serves as the first Police Officer in his family. Officer Rodriguez is excited to engage with the Daly City community, build meaningful connections and serve as a trusted resource for all.

Officer Matthew Lajoie brings 11 years of diverse law enforcement experience to the Daly City Police Department, and he’s excited to step into his new role serving the Daly City community. Throughout his career, Officer Lajoie has worked in a variety of positions, including Counseling and Behavioral Specialist, where he developed a passion for working with youths and fostering positive relationships. With his energy, experience and dedication, Officer Lajoie looks forward to connecting with people, building trust and making a positive impact in the community.

Responsibilities

The Community School Resource Officers attend community meetings and events, along with other members of the Police Department’s Administration, in order to address problems occurring in neighborhoods throughout the City. The Officers provide information on how to start a Neighborhood Watch Program and also address citizens’ concerns.

At the high schools, the Community School Resource Officers will provide a presentation on the U.S. Constitution's Fourth Amendment (Search and Seizure) to the government classes.
