National Night Out

National Night Out is a community police awareness raising event in the United States, held the first Tuesday of August. This event has been held annually since 1984 and is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch in the United States and Canada.

Purpose

National Night Out is a national effort to promote involvement in crime prevention activities and community-police partnerships. It also sends a message to criminals letting them know that communities are organized and fighting back. The event began simply with neighbors turning on their porch lights and sitting in front of their homes. Our department has been holding a formal event at the Serramonte Shopping Center parking lot for the last few years.

2022 National Night Out

This year the event will be held on Tuesday, August 2nd from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The intent of hosting this event is for people to meet fellow residents and Police, Fire, and City staff, partake in fun activities and raffles, and have giveaways for children. In addition to the Daly City Police Department, representatives from the businesses below will be at the event.
