The Building Codes
The Building Codes were established to provide minimum design and construction standards to ensure the wellness and safety of the general public in relation to the construction and occupancy of buildings.
New Code Adoption January 1, 2026
The California Building Standards Commission updates the State building codes (California Code of Regulations, CCR, Title 24) every three years. Beginning January 1, 2026, the 2022 state building codes will be replaced by the 2025 codes.
2025 California Building Codes
The 2025 codes are applicable to all building permits made on or after January 1, 2026. Daly City has adopted and enforces the following codes and specific appendices:

- 2025 California Electrical Code
- 2025 California Energy Code
- 2025 California Fire Code
- 2025 California Green Building Standards Code
- 2025 California Mechanical Code
- 2025 California Plumbing Code

- California Title 25 - The Mobile Home Park Act

Daly City Amendments
Please refer to Ordinance No. 1461 for most recent changes made to the Municipal Code.
Specific Daly City amendments to California Code of Regulations T-24 and International Property Maintenance Code can be obtained from the City Clerk's Office located in City Hall or may also be viewed online under our Municipal Code Title 15 Building and Construction page.
